There are numerous important events that have been celebrated in the area for many years.

These include “Alpenfest” in August, “Ein Prosit” in October and the legendary “No Borders Music Festival” in July and August, events which also attract visitors from nearby Slovenia and Austria.

Every year the opening parade for “Alpenfest” includes nearly 650 people in traditional habits from Italy, Austria and Slovenia.

This four-day festival celebrates the friendship between the people of the three borders, a situation unique to this area and the only festival of this kind in Italy.

Fine food and drink are celebrated at the “Ein Prosit” festival, which has been one of the leading gastronomic events in Italy for the last 20 years.

A great selection of tastings and meals prepared by worldclass chefs are available to tempt and inform visitors and professionals, as well as food and wine lovers from around the world.

Thanks to the popularity of this event, visitors can also enjoy excellent quality and choice in the restaurants of the valley throughout the year.

The “No Borders Music Festival“ reached its 28th edition in 2018, and is proudly considered to be one of the most important events of this kind in Europe.

From the A of Anastasia to the Z of Zucchero, the festival has hosted the world’s greatest musicians, including Lenny Kravitz, Manu Chao, Gianna Nannini, Jovanotti and in 2017Joss Stone. Great names that have become an integral part of the attractions for visitors to Tarvisio in the summer, together with local groups and musicians who truly celebrate an event without borders.

As well as these major events, there are also many others well worth visiting like: the “Festa dell’amicizia sul Monte Goriane” the 1st Sunday in August which celebrates friendship in the mountains, with music, folk traditions, food, drink, fun and a competitive race up to the beautiful landscape of Monte Goriane, on the border between Italy and Austria.

Two other events to watch out for are the “Baite aperte in Val Bartolo” on the third Sunday in August, where you can stroll through the extraordinarily beautiful mountain landscape to enjoy music, food and fun, and the “Festa del Monte Forno o del Triplice confine”. This is held every year at the end of the summer, on the 2nd Sunday in September, where the Italian, Austrian and Slovenian border meets. This is a celebration of the friendship between the nations held in a place that not so long ago was divided by barbed wire.
