The Church dedicated to Saint’Egidio

24 Via Casarenza, Camporosso In Valcanale

posizione/location

This is the oldest church in the valley.

The building we see today dates from 1471, but the original construction dates from between 1106 and 1139.

The interior is divided into three naves and there are numerous altars.

These are in polychrome wood and in marble, and some of them are very elaborated.

They are all in the Baroque style and thus date from after the construction of the building.

To the left of the Triumphal Arch that divides the central nave from the apse with its imposing marble altar, we can see what is left of a beautiful fresco from the end of the 15th century showing the Flagellation and Crucifixion of Christ.
